Here`s another great article:

Hi, how do you coordinate training to walk loose-leash with the need for long walks to expend energy? My rescue pulls and pulls, but I'm trying to train her to walk at heel/walk loose leash. Meanwhile I do want to take her for long walks, but for a long walk that allows her (and me) to just get some exercise, should I just let her go ahead? Won't that undermine training? Or is it ok to segment the day into training time, walking time?
