Here`s another great article:

Harley this black lab is almost 4 but he’s only been with us for ten months now. We are finally at a good place with his other commands that I’m ready to focus on “drop it” He chews? On the ball for a while before dropping it when he’s ready. I have been told it’s a form of resource guarding. He has zero interest in treats, or anything at that matter. All he cares about is his ball when we are playing. I’m at a lost on how to teach drop it, where to start, or even how to start. Any tips are greatly appreciated.
