Separation Anxiety Training assistance

Here`s another great article:

Hi there! I’m working with my 8 week Boston Terrier boy on separation anxiety. The guy sleeps well at night in his crate, whines for peeing and then goes to sleep, on the day is when it gets a little interesting.

We play together and after 10-15 mins he is fine playing by finishing up himself in his pen but he wants me to be there. I think this is normal, so what I’m doing is simply leave the room not paying attention to him, he either Plays for another 3-5 minutes and starts whining for another 1-2 minutes and the cycle restarts or goes to his crate to sleep. Am I approaching this correctly?
