Here`s another great article:

My 2-3 yo ABPT mix is a sweet gentle girl, smart and obedient. I have had her for about 4.5 months now and she has trained really nice so far. However, I have noticed that when she follows command, she is like an order of magnitude faster when I have treats vs when I don't (e.g. when I practice some during our daily walks). In the latter case, she would "sit" lethargically, grumble and go "down" but with a treat pouch, she is literally superwoman.

Has anyone else experienced this with their pups? How do you solve this? Is it an unreasonable expectation on my part for her to perform the same way, whether or not she sees a reward?
