Here`s another great article:
I have 2 young boys who were so excited to pick up their 10 week old Moodle (Maltese/Poodle) last week. We called her Eevee because she was an apricot colour and reminded them of the Pokemon.
We were crate training her and she was awesome. I slept next to her crate last night and put her outside on our enclosed balcony this morning at about 6am to get some fresh air while i had a quick shower. I thought we had puppy proofed the balcony and it just had her bed, a table and 4 chairs on it so I had let her out of the crate to have some breakfast.
I was wrong and in the 10 minutes I was away she must have tried to climb up onto a chair but had instead got her head stuck between the seat and the armrest and hanged herself and couldn’t be saved.
My boys are of course devastated and I’ve been a mess all day. I thought I was doing ok and blame myself.
We only had Eevee for a week but I miss her so much. On Sunday we spent the whole day in the backyard as a family playing with her and I’ll never forget it.
I’m sorry Eevee, you deserved better.
Sorry to be a downer but I don’t know what else to do.
