Here`s another great article:
And I hate it! We got lucky with our puppy that by 9 weeks he was sleeping 11pm to around 6:30 without needing a potty break. He usually falls asleep around 9:30 in his pen and then just before 11 we do a pee break and crate him. He’ll sleep until 6 or 6:30.
But I don’t want to start my day at 6am! I totally understand taking him outside but at that point he is just UP and ready for the day. I’ve tried crating him immediately after the 6am potty break but he just whines. He won’t go back to sleep. And he won’t cuddle us in our bed, he wants to play.
Right now, I just get up with him and then he goes for a nap around 8:30. Just curious to hear anyone’s experience conditioning their dog to chill out in the mornings until a bit later or is this just kind of a puppy thing and he may calm down as he gets older?
Ideally I’d get up with him around 8-8:30 for breakfast and playtime.
