Pee pads to potty trained?

Here`s another great article:

Hello! I have a 16 week redbone coonhound. She’s such a good girl. She is so close to understanding this potty training thing. We have two pads in the house, in our living room and my office. She has started alerting us about her potty needs by going to the back door and pawing or barking at my office door where the baby gate is.

But still she sometimes comes in from being outside and goes on her potty pad within minutes. What are some good ways you all have transitioned potty pads out? Is it a little early still? I suspect if we just make them disappear she will just pee where the pads have been, which isn’t ideal.
