Here`s another great article:
I just wanted to get some other people's opinions on daycare for their pups.
So for background, I have a 9 month old black lab, super high energy, I'm a college student working 15~30 hours depending on the week. I am a bartender so my schedule varies quite a bit whether I am gone during the day or during the night. My dog has been going to daycare consistently for about a month or so now. He loves it (as far as I can tell) and they love him there. At first he was crazy jumpy and bitey with them, but he has grown so much, and every day I get a good report and they tell me every time I pick him up how good he has been doing since the first few times he went there.
My question for you guys is, how much daycare is TOO much daycare? I have been told I am taking him way too much and he isn't getting enough time with his "family", but on the flip side, I have been told it's good that I am able to have an option so close that I can take him and spend all day playing with other dogs and keeping him active.
I take him there everyday, and M-F he is there from ~10am – ~5-7pm. Saturday and Sunday he goes from ~10am – 3-4pm. Some weeks he goes 7 days a week, some weeks he goes 2-3 times, it all just depends on what is going on. The last couple weeks he has gone during the week and we have gone to the lake on weekends.
I feel conflicted on this issue, because everyday, he is up and ready to head to the car, and go to daycare. They post on snapchat and every time he is on it, he seems to be having so much fun. But ever since some people have said I'm basically letting the daycare raise him, I haven't stopped thinking about it. I can tell from the snapchat that I am not the only one who takes their dog(s) there 4-5-6-7 days a week, there are dogs I see every day dropping him off/picking him up/and on snapchat.
TLDR; My 9 month dog goes to daycare 4-7 days a week, I have been told I'm letting daycare raise him, and not me. What are your thoughts?
