Older dog over-correcting new puppy?

Here`s another great article:

We brought a new puppy home (m, cavalier, 12 weeks) on Tuesday and our older dog (f, 7-8 years poodle-terrier mix) isn’t stoked. She constantly correcting the puppy, even from across the room, and there have been several instances of snaps (but never full on bites or extended aggression).

I understand that it will take far longer than 3 days for them to get used to each other, and my older dog is also trying to teach the puppy manners, but at what point is it too much or too aggressive?

The puppy has been pretty resilient, but almost always cowers and goes to lay down on the other side of the room. I don’t want this experience to shape his reaction to all dogs he meets.

Anyone experience this when introducing a second dog to their home?
