Here`s another great article:
A friend of mine has a dog that gave birth to a litter of yellow labs a couple months ago. Some of the puppies have been given to friends and what not, but they are keeping some of them.
One thing I've noticed: mama dog can be kind of aggressive with the puppies at times. She growls and barks at them and will even push them over. Now, I want to preface this by saying that I don't spank my puppy and do my best not to yell at him (I sometimes fail on that one). But I'm curious if some mama dogs do the equivalent, why shouldn't we? On here we talk about treats and positive reinforcement constantly, but I'm not sure that I've seen the mama dog do anything similar other than feed them and kinda love on them when they aren't annoying her.
