Here`s another great article:
I have 2 labs, whenever I let them outside in my back yard they bolt towards the bushes and trap and kill any lizard they find, thankfully they don’t eat them but instead paw at them and play with the dead lizards. I tried using a leash and treats as reinforcement to get them to sit and not move when they see one but the moment I let the off leash and free to wander they end up finding one to kill.
A.) they’ve decimated the lizard population so there are more pests B.) I like animals and I feel bad when they kill them.
What can I do to deter my dogs from killing lizards?
