How do I get my dog to stop thinking a food reward is a release cue?

Here`s another great article:

I’m working on heel with my dog and she holds it very well, until the second I give her a treat and then she’s like “ok it’s done!” And moves back to walking in front of me. She already has a release cue trained, that I use for release from holding a sit/stay as I open doors and things like that. How can I get her to hold a heel until the release cue instead of thinking treat=release? Should I drop the food reward out now that she can heel on verbal command?
