Help with separation anxiety

Here`s another great article:

Hello all, I searched but couldn’t quite find what I was looking for. I have a 1 year old golden retriever who is very attached to my fiancé and I. He’s a sweet dog and really a sweetheart. He’s well behaved but suffers from severe separation anxiety. If we leave for longer than 30 minutes we’re bound to have something shredded. If we close the door to a room with him outside he immediately starts to bark, claw at the door without ever stopping. He jumps and needs near constant attention.

I’ve been trying to leave him in a room, and then opening the door before he starts barking and giving him a treat to hope to associate closing the door with a reward but it doesn’t seem to be working because he barks immediately when I close the door. I try to exercise him well. I live in an apartment without a backyard but I walk him about an hour a day and play with him a good amount.

Any advice you all have would be appreciated. I appreciate it very much. I love him but I’m getting so frustrated. I can’t hug my fiancé without him growing jealous, jumping and scratching us and I can’t close my door for zoom meetings without him barking at the top of my lungs.
