Has anyone had success in getting their dog to stop scratching doors?

Here`s another great article:

Our 6.5 month old has come leaps and bounds since we got him 8 weeks ago, but separation anxiety is an area where we’re still struggling. He’s mostly stopped scratching the door to signal he wants to go outside, as he knows he has to lie down and wait for us to open the door. We’ve also been working on leaving him alone for longer periods of time and he’s able to settle himself well after a bit of crying. The problem comes at night time. He’s going mad every 1-2 hours and scratching the door like crazy. He’s seriously damaging them and making so much noise for our poor neighbours.

So far we’ve been waiting for him to settle again and stop making noise (we have a camera so we can see what he’s doing) and then come down and make him go back on his bed. He then stays and sleeps for a few hours and then starts straight back up again with the scratching and crying.

We’re really starting to struggle with the lack of sleep so if anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: I forgot to mention he doesn’t need the toilet when he wakes us up, so it’s not a case of needing to go outside
