Here`s another great article:
Hi, I am a new puppy owner and have been taking my 12/13 week old out over the last few days. The puppy is very small and weak in comparison to some of the other dogs we encounter. I have been trying to gradually introduce the puppy to new people and other dogs but I am mindful I do not want him to have a bad experience that may traumatise him so I am quite guarded. He had a bit of a scare the other day when a dog fell awkwardly and landed across his body. Poor puppy thought he was under attack and yelped in fear for a bit before I grabbed him up and reassured him. Anyway I don't know if I am being stupid but I do fear the thought of a dangerous dog or vicious dog in London suddenly coming from no where and clamping their lockjaw around my little pup. I don't know how common this is or what I should do to best protect my dog. Would appreciate any feedback. I know you often hear of these horror stories in London where a dog attacks a smaller dog so it is not an irrational fear. I will try to take him to some puppy classes so he can do some socialisation with other dogs which could help but am I odd to be so protective of the little fella?
