Here`s another great article:
Tl;dr My pup gets diarrhea, but only at night and she has repeatedly pooped in her pen, but vet says she’s fine.
I have an 11 month old Australian cattle dog. She’s very well house broken and rarely has accidents in the house (and if she does it’s usually my fault), but recently she’s had several nights where she gets foul diarrhea at night and only at night. I thought she might be sick so I took her to the vet, but they could not find anything wrong with her. Her poops during the day are normal, but at night she can’t hold it in and it becomes very watery and dark in color. I tried waking up in the middle of the night to take her outside, but it isn’t consistent when she poops in her pen, sometimes in 5am other times it’s 1am. As a side note, her demeanor has not changed and she’s as playful and loving as ever and eating normally. We’ve also restricted treats and only give her dry food and a single dental treat in the mornings, but that does not seem to help.
