Here`s another great article:
I'm curious what you guys think of trainers and companies that charge a (not insignificant) fee for an initial consultation/evaluation.
As someone who has done consulting (not in dog training) in the tech industry, I couldn't imagine charging a potential customer for the time I spend listening to them and finding out how I could help them. I view that initial meeting as a cost of doing (potential) business, especially if it's just an hour or so, and even if I have to meet with them at their site/place of business.
Now that I'm looking for some professional assistance with dog training I see some places offering a free evaluation and others that charge for it. If it's an evaluation, I'm evaluating and interviewing you as much as you may be evaluating me and my dog, so why would I pay $175/hr to see if you're a good fit for me?
