Buying used items for a new puppy

Here`s another great article:

Hey all! I’m getting an 8-week old mini aussie puppy at the beginning of March (so excited) and was wondering about safety/health of buying used items from others.

I try to limit my waste in all aspects of life, and I always try to buy used or borrow instead of new if possible. I also have some friends and family (who’s dogs I know) that are offering me some old puppy items.

I’m thinking I would only look for used things like crates, play pens, and maybe bowls that can be properly washed/sanitized. But I imagine I should avoid products such as toys, beds, etc.

Any thoughts on this? Should I be avoiding all used items? Or are certain things safe to buy used?
