When is a yawn just a yawn?

Here`s another great article:

I’ve been reading a lot about identifying stress and anxiety in dogs, so I can work on training my anxious dog while keeping him under his threshold.

I read that yawns are a sign of anxiety and an early warning of aggression. But when is a yawn just a yawn? I’m worried that I’m starting to read all his basic behavior (yawns, occasional muzzle-licking, licking my face repeatedly) as “I’m anxious”. Thanks for your input!
