Here`s another great article:
In my last post I asked for help with my 5 month old mutt (mastiff mix maybe, not hitting puberty yet). He was peeing in the crate everyday despite a dog walker coming to let him out.
I followed the advice to limit water when the dog sitter comes around noon and two weeks flew by without accidents. Suddenly, we're back to peeing in the crate again. Nothing changed. At all. He's going to be 6 months soon and I can't help but to feel Im failing as a dog parent.
-he does not have a UTI or health concerns -he is 70lb mix no idea what of -i have a security camera, he stands up and pees like it nothing -no whining or panicking -i talked to a behaviourist and they said some dogs just take forever to learn not to soil themselves. This doesn't seem like a good answer 🙁
As stated last time, I cannot leave him out. I am in a rental property (almost 100% carpet). I tried penning him in the kitchen and he managed to open a cabinet and shatter 4 glasses. Thankfully he was ok, he stayed away from it.
I have to figure out how to make the crate work. I don't have other options right now. I've raised seven dogs and never had this issue. I'm at a loss. Again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
