Here`s another great article:

What "rules" have you implemented in your house that helped your rescue dog turn into a great companion dog?

I'm beginning to look into getting a new rescue dog (my previous rescue passed away 6 weeks ago). I'm familiar with clicker training and have done a decent amount of R+ training classes with my previous girl, so I'm not looking for general guidelines on how to mark and/or shape behavior. Instead, I'm looking for general "rules" that help build a positive relationship with the pet and help teach self-control and good manners. Rules can be human-focused (e.g., don't pet the dog when she's jumping) or dog-focused (e.g., dog must sit before getting fed dinner).

Thanks in advance!
