Here`s another great article:
I have seen a lot of posts giving advice for dogs who pee when excited, but my issue is specific to when waking up.
I have a 3.5 month golden retriever female, housebroken and not having any accidents otherwise. She sleeps in a crate in my bedroom and when I wake up to take her outside to pee, she gets excited to see me and pees a little in the crate/on me. It doesn’t happen any other time and I know she doesn’t really need to go (when I get her outside she will only need to pee a little).
And advice? I am thinking I can try the general advice of not showing excitement when greeting her in the morning, but I have to go and open the crate so not sure if this will work.
