Here`s another great article:
I've had this 8 week old shihpoo puppy for three days now, and we are super bonded. She follows me everywhere and starts whining when she can't see me even if there's other family around. I want to work on her getting more used to being alone, but I'm not sure if it's too early for that and if I should just let her get more used to her new environment away from her litter. It's cute to see that she likes me, but I don't want a puppy that grows up to be screaming and barking every time I leave the room. Advice on this part would be very helpful! I think my more immediate issue is that I can't get her to listen to anything. She doesn't really care for treats (I bought a TON of variety because my previous pup only liked chicken treats, and I thought the new one might also be picky), and she's definitely not interested in toys. This has made it so difficult to get any type of message across, and trying to teach her a simple "sit" has been so frustrating. I try my best to be as exciting as possible, but she just doesn't seem to care or even want to look at me even as she isn't really doing much else. Am I setting my expectations too high? She is such a good girl, but it's getting to me that I haven't been able to get her to sit once in 3 days. I know every dog is different, but is this normal? What can I do to help her focus?
