Here`s another great article:
My puppy is 13 weeks and is great in the crate overnight so far! He sleeps/is quiet until about 7 am (his crate isn't in my room so not exactly sure what he's doing) – but at around 7-7:30 am he'll start whining and barking. I go to the living room, lift the crate cover, and wait for him to be quiet for a minute (he usually stops barking when i lift the cover) and then let him out to the backyard to potty.
Am I teaching him that barking/whining gets him out? Should I wake up and let him out before he whines, or is it fine that I wait for him to have to go?
