Here`s another great article:
I don't have a fenced yard. It sucks, but we rent and I can't change it. So my 12 week old smooth Collie goes out on leash every time we go outside.
We have a crabapple tree with a vine growing in it that he likes to hide under. Usually it's fine, today it caused me to drop the leash and he ran towards the ditch and road a good 50ft away.
Rather than chase him I dropped into a squat and called him, and he sprinted to me! I'm so proud of him.
We've been working on recall, but only inside and from like, 5-6 feet away. So I really wasn't expecting it to work, just hoping it would because I had no idea how I'd get him back otherwise. I'm so proud, he's such a good boy.
