Here`s another great article:
I have a 4 year old male Boerboel and two other younger dogs. They have always gotten along swimmingly, until I started college. Now everytime I come home for the holidays, my Boerboel becomes very possessive of me. He won't let the other dogs near me. It's gotten so bad that the others are afraid to come close to me because i have a 24/7 bodyguard. He's now extending this behaviour towards food. At meal times, he will not let the other dogs eat from their own bowls until he has sampled all the food and is full. When I'm away at school, he doesn't exhibit any of this behaviour with my other family members.
Today we were playing fetch, and when one of my other dogs ran for the ball, my Boerboel physically attacked him. I had to force him off. I'm really at a loss here. I want to correct this behaviour before I'm off to college again. Any advice would be helpful.
