I don’t know if this is the correct sub, but my dog, who is currently 8 months old, is going through a fear stage.
For the past month, my dog has been scared of going outside. I used to take him to the park 2-3 times a day, depending on how much energy he has.
Lately though, I’m only able to take him out once a day, around sunset. He’s too scared to go out. The problem is that he is a Border Collie, so he has a lot of energy.

My question is, should I play with him throughout the day so he’s not bored, or ignore him in hopes that he’ll want to go out?
I should mention that I don’t force my dog to go out and try to go at his pace. There’s been times where we can’t leave the park immediately but I try my best. What do you guys think?
If he continues like this for another week I’m planning on hiring a professional
