My dog waits until we’re not around to do the things he knows not to. Help!

Here`s another great article:

Our Husky/pit is so sweet but has a mean habit of ripping into the garbage, stealing food from off the counters, or if those things are away, destroying SOMETHING. This happens when we go to bed at night or leave the house for any amount of time. We don’t enjoy crating him when we leave the house, and we’d like to stop. We provide him with tons of toys to chew on, but he’d rather go straight to the things we don’t want destroyed. We know he knows he has done something wrong when we come home to a MESS, because he’ll be hiding in his kennel when he always greets us at the door otherwise. So we’ve got it established with him what behavior is inappropriate, but he just does it anyways. Anyone have advice?
