Keeping close when off leash

Here`s another great article:

I'm wondering if anyone has had good success at training your dog to stay closer to you at certain times with a command. We have a cabin on a two acre lot. Our puppers is getting really good at knowing the boundaries, and her recall is also getting very good. Most of the time I'm fine with her traipsing around the woods as I can hear her. However there are times it would be nice to have her stay closer. For example when I'm fixing something or in the evenings when it's dark and we're at the fire. I don't need her a foot from me but if I could keep her within eye shot 20-30' it would be nice.

Has anyone been able to train this sort of thing? If so how did you approach it? Many thanks!
