I work 4, 8, and 12 hour shifts at a hospital, and this weekend I have the first shift where no one will be home to play with my 4-month-old german shepherd…and of course it’s a 12 hour (7-7) shift. I can take him on a jog and feed him before work, and I could try to come home for a few minutes during my lunch break to feed him and take him out, but it wouldn’t be long enough to get any energy out. What else can I do for him? I either need some ideas to keep him entertained or reassurance to settle my conscience. My heart is breaking at the thought of leaving him in the kennel, but he just can’t be left alone in the house at this point without chewing up everything.
