Here`s another great article:
I’ve posted on this thread recently, and got some great tips, so I figured it was time to post my newest dilemma. My 1 year old beagle/treehound mix Georgia has begun a new routine that is driving me crazy. At night, I normally let her sleep with me, as she clearly enjoys it and it strengthens our bond. But recently she has begun the habit of waking up earlier and earlier every morning, to the point wherein she’s up at 1 or 2 AM pretty religiously. She doesn’t sleep during the day, only “naps” (her eyes never really close), even when I leave for class for 2-4 hours at a time. Since she’s pretty used to going to the bathroom as soon as she wakes up, she’s now taking a liking to defecating somewhere in my apartment every. single. morning. I’m so annoyed, and I am sure she’s well potty trained considering how much her old owners and myself spent training her. At no other interval does she perform this behavior. I would really like to not crate her, as she can’t have a bed (she has ripped apart any stuffed toy or bed we give her, despite months of training her to appreciate the bed as a place of rest) and it looks relatively uncomfortable for her because of it (before she would happily lay down on the bed, now she’s reluctant) Any suggestions?
