Here`s another great article:

Hi there,

Today I took in a foster dog into my home. He’s about 40 kg, a shepherd husky mix, and he recently had a mass removed on his back. He’s on a bunch of antibiotics, and has been very friendly towards everyone in my family so far. He he has very calm demeanour, and has taken his medicine without issue. The problem is, as soon as we got home he be lined through the house to the carpeted living room. So far, in the 10 hours we’ve been here, he has not left the living room. I’ve fed him and given him plenty of water, but I’ve tried everything from treats to toys to calling him, but he won’t leave the carpet in my living room. I haven’t been able to get him outside to go to the bathroom, so I’m not entirely sure what to do. He’s a big dog, with a big wound down his back, so I’m a little nervous pulling him on the leash, and he doesn’t seem to want to be picked up. I think the hardwood floor might be bothering him. I don’t know what to do. I’m assuming he won’t go to the bathroom in the carpeted area, as it’s fairly small, but how do I get him outside?

Edit: He’s also 10 years old. Forgot that in the original post. I’ll update if we make any progress.
