Here`s another great article:
I've had my dog for 2 months and she has severe separation/crate anxiety. We've been working on training her – I worked with a trainer in the first week we had her and this was the main issue. She unfortunately has had not great experiences in the crate. There was one time where she wasn't ready for me to leave and chewed out of a hard plastic crate, getting out and destroying stuff (not the first time she's gotten out of a crate, not the first time she's destroyed things). I walk her often, she goes to daycare every day when I'm at work. The challenge is the negative association with the crate. When she's anxious she doesn't take treats or toys or anything and at this point she is anxious even standing in front of the crate. I'm looking for ideas as to how to train her so the crate isn't such a negative experience. At this point I can't really leave my house and of course, I need to be able to do so. Thanks!
