Dog is my shadow

Here`s another great article:

On Wednesday I adopted a chihuahua/yorkie mix named Laika. She's about a year old, the sweetest, most affectionate baby you could ask for. One problem is she feels she needs to follow me everywhere I go, and throws fits of whining escalating to barking when she can't. I work from home, but I'm trying to get her used to me leaving her on her own for short periods of time. She'll be fast asleep and still shoot up when I get up to go to the bathroom, to the kitchen, anywhere. When I leave my apartment to go to the store, I hear her scratching at the door and whining. I want her to feel comfortable and confident on her own. What can I do to help her?
