Dog and litter box

Here`s another great article:

We have had my puppy for 7 months, and he has recently started digging through the cats’ litter box and eating what he finds. We bought specials treats to feed the cats and dog to make the dog crave the droppings less and also to make the droppings taste less desirable to the dog.

I was wondering if anyone had experience using something like this? I’m wondering if it’s something we have to continually give or if we can use the treats just long enough to break the habit.

Right now the room where the litter box is stored is under construction so there is no door. Even when we do put the door back on, I can’t leave it closed because the cats need access. I also wouldn’t be able to add a pet door, because my dog is the same size as the cats.

If anyone has successfully broken the habit other than using treats, please let me know!
