Crate problems and puppy blues

Here`s another great article:

I’ve wanted a puppy my entire life and finally my parents agreed so I got one! His name is milo and he is a 10 week old shih tzu. However, since the day we got him I’ve been so stressed, anxious, and depressed. The first day we had him, I cried several times. I understand his process is hard but sometimes I feel like I made a really big mistake.

I’ve been trying to train him and he pees on the pee pad for the most part. There have been only a few accidents on the tiles which is great but the part I’m struggling with is:

1) when I take him out he won’t pee or poop. Sometimes I’m out there for 50 minutes but nothing. I take him out regularly, after meals, naps, and play time.

2) he goes inside his crate to pee or poop. Even if I take him outside, sometimes he will come back inside to go there. Also, he only ever enters his crate willingly to pee or poop.

I heard puppy’s don’t want to go to the bathroom where they sleep but he doesn’t seem to care. I’ve made the crate smaller, added blankets to make it fluffy, given him treats in there, fed him in there, and put his toys in there. He hates his crate and will cry in there, and pee almost as soon as he enters.

I’m just feeling really stressed and a discouraged. I don’t know what to do; I find myself constantly googling things to help train him but nothing seems to be working. I know training takes time but how do I make him stop going to the bathroom in his crate? And, how do I make him more comfortable in his crate so he will take a nap in there?
