Can you teach a dog to "snap out" of prey/play time?

Here`s another great article:

Hello r/dogtraining

We have a lovely Icelandic sheepdog who is wholesome and generally obedient, although he is now adolescent and sometimes it takes a while for commands to sink in.

We take him to the dog forest every evening with a group of dog owners and he has such a lovely time.

However when a new unfamiliar dog comes, or playtime gets too rough recalling him can be tricky since he is in the zone. Is there a technique to train your dog to snap out of playtime/prey drive (if he spots game etc.) or do you just need a strong recall?
