Adopted puppy won’t eat dog food, even when mixed with wet food except for Hills Science Diet.

Here`s another great article:

We adopted a shelter dog about two months ago. He's around 10 months old and weighs around 50 lbs. Seems like a Shepherd/Huskie mix.

Wheb we adopted him, the shelter had been feeding him Science Diet. We wanted to move him over to a "better" food, so we researched and started him on Wellness Core Large Breed Puppy (mixing it in, as per instructions). He ate around the Wellness, so we thought he didn't like it. Next, we tried Blue Buffalo Wilderness Large Breed Puppy and had the same issue. Now, we've been trying Taste of the Wild Large Breed Puppy salmon formula. I'm currently watching him pick through a bowl of food, selectively picking out the Science Diet that's mixed in, and spitting out the other food.

When we first brought him home, he was sick and the vet put him on chicken and rice. Even that wasn't that appealing – he ate around the rice and only ate the chicken. We tried mixing in toppers, cans, even the chicken, and he always eats around whatever food except for the science diet.

Is it really even worth the headache? This guy is driving us up a wall with this. I used to work at a pet store and know how different the foods can be, but I'm far from a nutritionist. Is it that important to feed a higher quality food? Otherwise, is there anything else to do? It's been 2 months of trial and error and absolutely nothing sticks.
