Here`s another great article:
He's a sheperd mix who does fine in his crate as long as we're in direct eyesight, but will cry if we leave the room/house. Strangely too, he will instantly get quiet the moment we're back in eyesight. I'm not sure how to stop him, as he's only crying when I'm out of sight. I've tried to slowly ween him by coming straight back, but he pretty much just instantly will start crying.
Just for some background info, I'm trying to get him to sleep downstairs as its much cooler for him right now, but he would do this in my room too, so I don't think it's the room.
